Episode 8: What Are You Gonna Do About It?

Episode Description

Episode 7 of American Colony closed with a question from artist Pablo Delano about Puerto Rico’s colonial situation: What are you gonna do about it?

For the final episode of our first season, hosts Julio Ricardo Varela and Nuria Net ask that question to five Puerto Ricans — a social media strategist, a human rights lawyer, an independence organizer, a statehood advocate, and a psychologist studying how colonialism affects Puerto Ricans’ mental health.

All this during a time when parts of the archipelago face a water crisis, a $2 billion resort just got approved without a public hearing, and the fight over what comes next has never felt more urgent.

This episode of American Colony was produced by Amalia I. Núñez-Pires. It was edited by Julio Ricardo Varela and Nuria Net.
