Episode 20: Prostate Cancer and What Every Man Should Know About PSA Testing (w/ Michael Bovarnik)

August 11
41 mins

Episode Description

Michael Bovarnick was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer at 59. He went twenty years cancer free. Then it came back, and this time it had spread.  In this episode you will learn what a PSA number actually means and what makes one a problem, why some doctors stop testing after fifteen years and why Michael says that would have killed him, what hormone therapy does to a man’s muscle, bone, sleep, and mood, the two things that matter most for catching this early, and how to talk about it with your wife instead of going silent.  Michael founded The Prostate Education Project after his recurrence. It's a free online resource library. It's now being used by doctor groups like the urology group in Reno as a resource for their own patients, and the whole library is available in English and Spanish.  The Prostate Education Project: https://theprostateeducationproject.org  Neither Jonathan nor Michael is a physician. Nothing in this episode is medical advice.
